I will look after them both.” David was as adamant as anyone could be.

There was a conviction in his voice Eloise had not heard before.

“I already told Pamela you would do this,” said Eloise. “She is expecting you as soon as you can get home.”

“David, I am proud of you. I think you should be my son,” said Sam.
David burst into tears. That was too much. With all that had gone on that day, the beginning of the journey home, with seeing Mr. Henry and Tom, hearing all the news of home, and the fact that Sam Henry had offered to be his father sent an emotional blow into David’s heart and head he could no longer stand. He wept the cry of the
grieving. He cleansed all that contaminated his soul. He felt forgiveness wash over him like a great white light. He was pure. He was accepted.

Sam Henry felt energy leaving him into David. He had never felt such consuming need for love and forgiveness and was glad to give it. He held David warmly and firmly, saying nothing, knowing what was happening. He looked at Eloise with love in his eyes and both knew David would be a new man.

In all of his years, David had not felt such love. He now understood the love he felt from Eloise. It was not a love of blood-coursing sexual passion.It was a love of peace, rock solid confidence, belief, encouragement and forever acceptance and forgiveness. He had never seen nor felt that, ever. He wanted, needed that now and he was receiving it from Sam Henry.

“What’s up?” said Tom as he and Boolanga came up to the group.

“Not much,” said Eloise. “Dad was just telling David of all the news back home. Some of it came as a shock.”

“We have a fire going up here, it’s nice, you guys come on back,” invited Tom. “Gee, it’s good to see you, sis.” With that he came over and gave Eloise a big hug.

“Let’s go,” she said, and she started the race back to the fire. David and Sam remained where they were.
